Eligibility

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

Our Affordable Housing Solutions are limited to low-income families and individuals. Your eligibility is based on: 1) Annual gross income; 2) Whether you qualify as elderly, a person with a disability, or as a family; and 3) U.S. citizenship or eligible immigration status. If you are eligible, we will check your references to make sure you and your family are in good standing. We will deny admission to any applicant whose habits and practices may be expected to have a detrimental effect on other tenants or on the project’s environment. Housing Authorities use income limits developed by Department of Housing and Urban Development. Income limits vary from area to area so you may be eligible at one Housing Authority but not at another.

HOW DO I APPLY?

Waiting lists are closed starting 10/24/24.

We do not administer Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers. You may want to reach out to other local Housing Authorities for their openings and availability as every Housing Authority is different with separate waiting lists and programs. Please call them directly for more information.

WILL I NEED TO PRODUCE ANY DOCUMENTATION?

No additional documentation will be provided to the Tarpon Springs Housing Authority at this time, beyond the applications already submitted and currently on the waiting list. ARE THERE ANY SELECTION PREFERENCES?

Yes, you may receive a point for each of the following preferences at Tarpon Springs Housing Authority:

1. Homeless, living in a shelter
2. Local, living in Tarpon Springs
3. Working, at least 20 hours/week

All references for both you and your family will be verified during the application process.

HOW IS RENT DETERMINED?

Generally, you will pay 3O% of your gross adjusted annual income toward rent. Your rent will be determined using a formula based on your family’s anticipated gross annual income less deductions, if any. The Department of Housing and Urban Development regulations allow Housing Authorities to exclude a number of allowances from annual income. Based on your application, the Housing Authority representative will determine, if any, of the allowable deductions should be subtracted from your annual income. Annual income is the anticipated total income from all sources received from the family head and spouse, and each additional member of the family 18 years of age or older.
